Bone Cancer Research ranges from epidemiology, molecular bioscience to the performance of clinical trials to evaluate and compare applications of the various cancer treatment.

Bone Cancer Treatment applications include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy, and combined treatment modalities such as chemo-radiotherapy. Starting in the mid-1990s, the emphasis in clinical bone cancer research shifted towards therapies derived from biotechnology research, such as immunotherapy and gene therapy.

one of my close girl friends confirmed that she has a rare kind of bone cancer. She's been asking for help since February but no one listened until about four weeks ago, and then only because they thought it was lung cancer. It's not. It's in her hip and they suspect in her knees also. She has had test upon test and is now waiting for a specialist operation to do bone biopsies to determine more about the disease.

I don't know what to do, what is there I can do? Nothing. I am the conduit between her and our circle of friends who are spread across the country. She gets me to tell the other girls because I am the cancer t-shirt wearing girl amongst us. It's tough. I am going through a bunch of tests myself and haven't told my friends because how can I when they're already falling apart over our lovely friend with this rubbish partial diagnosis. So I'm telling you, and that's probably not fair of me, either.

But I do ask for your prayers for my lovely friend, that she gets a complete diagnosis and a treatment plan to help her. It doesn't matter what religion you are. It doesn't matter if you're agnositic or atheist. I just would ask that if you look at this shot and read these words, please say a prayer or send some love towards my friend because she needs all the help she can get at the moment.

Bone cancer took his leg 17 days ago. Picture taken 7.13.2010. He is doing fine but gets tired very quickly. We hope the cancer didn't spread but that is the exception not the rule.

The shin bone on the right-hand side has been destroyed by cancer. The weakened bone fractured with only normal pressure.

A normal shin bone is on the left-hand side of the radiograph.

The strength of the bone has been whittled away by cancer. The two most common forms of cancer in bones that we see are Osteosarcoma and Hemangiosarcoma. Neither carry a good prognosis at all, as these cancers have usually spread by the time they're detected.

A potential complication of bone cancer is a fracture at the site, called a "pathologic fracture."

Bone cancer is very, very painful.

Bone cancer is one of the most painful conditions that animals can experience. Surgery and radiation therapy can help if the cancer is found early enough, but it's often difficult to rule out the possibility that the cancer has spread.

Left unaddressed, these bones will fracture (a pathologic fracture) because the cancer weakens the bone.

Bob. I don't know how, but he is still hanging around. I drove eleven hours from Texas to Mississppi that day. I meant to stop along the way and take a picture, but it never happened. So before going to bed that night I got my camera out knowing exactly who I would photograph. Bob. This was taken the day before we got some bad news about him. And as I type this, he is sitting to my right dozing. I can't imagine not having him around.
